Gov. Yusuf Has Been Diverted By Adversaries In Kano For A Year – Kwankwaso Expresses Concern

Presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso, expressed that Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf was diverted for nearly a year by what he describes as the enemies of the state. Kwankwaso made these remarks on Saturday during the governor's declaration of a State of Emergency on education in Kano.

Kwankwaso lamented that despite Governor Yusuf's victory in the March 2023 gubernatorial election as announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), opponents of the state took legal action against him, dragging the process through the courts.

"Even though the governor was distracted for close to a year after the election, facing various court challenges from tribunal to Supreme Court, it was evident to all that he had won the election," Kwankwaso stated. He further noted that the opposition seemed determined to forcefully challenge the election results based on their belief that they were entitled to govern.

Drawing parallels between the situation faced by Governor Yusuf and the battles with the All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders in Kano and his own experiences with Boko Haram insurgents during his time in office, Kwankwaso commended Yusuf's resilience in upholding his campaign pledges despite the distractions.
