My Passion for Acting Cost Me My Marriage - Yetunde Wunmi

Veteran Yoruba actress Yetunde Wunmi, 64, has opened up about the sacrifices she made for her acting career. In an interview with BBC Yoruba, she shared that her journey began in 1982 as a stage performer with Sunday Akinola’s ‘Feyi Kogbon’ theatre group.

Reflecting on her nearly 40-year career, Wunmi revealed that her marriage ended because of her deep passion for acting.

She recalled a defining moment in her early life, when she saw renowned actor Adelove arrive in an all-white outfit and a white car at a nearby film location. "Everyone rushed towards him, and I also went closer just to touch his clothes. It felt like touching gold, and that was when my love for theatre was truly sparked."

Despite the personal sacrifices, including the loss of her marriage, Wunmi emphasized that she has no regrets about her decision to pursue acting, as God's grace has continually supported her through the years.
